Did you know? Training helps…

Every year thousands of pets are purchased as a Christmas present and within a few short months many of these pets are abandoned or returned to shelters due to reasons beyond their control. One thing you can do as a responsible pet owner is to do your research to make sure you understand the breed you are bringing into your family. Some breeds prefer a quiet household while others thrive in lots of activity. Another piece of advice is to look into training for your new pet. As your resource for all things pet related we have listed a few local dog trainers below:

Dr. Bell’s Recommendation:

You have made the decision to bring a new dog into the family. Now what? Where do you find this new family member? Dr Bell highly recommends visiting your local shelter or checking with local rescue groups to see what dogs they have available and see how to set up a visit. We have provided a link to a few local groups. *Remember when you adopt a pet from a shelter or rescue group your pet is eligible for a free first exam within the first year of adoption.
